Important Information for Property Owners
Property owners receive separate Assessment Notices and Tax Notices. Each property owner is sent a copy of the tax notice to the address we have on file. If your address needs to be updated, please complete the Contact Us Form or email the office with your new address.
For properties within the residential and commercial tax classes, your tax dollar is split between Municipal and Education.
The Town mill rate can vary from year to year. Please refer to your tax notice or the annual newsletter for the current year’s rate. To receive a discount on the municipal portion, ensure your payment is submitted by November 30. Payments can be made by placing a cheque in the drop slot or paying online. Please note that online payments can take up to 10 business days to be processed by the bank, and the payment will not be processed until we receive the funds.
Education property taxes are not eligible for a discount. The Provincial Percentage of Values is 80% for Residential, 55% for Agricultural, 45% for Non-Arable (grazing), and 85% for Commercially assessed properties.
The Town Council sets the Municipal Mill Rate and Base Tax, while the Province of Saskatchewan sets the education property tax mill rates. For the current Education mill rates, please visit Education Property Tax Mill Rates.
Property Assessment Information
The Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA) offers a “SAMA View” website, which allows you to search property assessment information for any municipality where assessment services were provided by SAMA. This tool also enables comparisons between similar properties. You can access the SAMA View tool here.
SAMA (Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency)
The provincial government mandates SAMA to conduct periodic revaluations of all Saskatchewan properties every four years to coincide with the change to a new base date. The current revaluation was completed in 2021 using the 2019 base year. When a revaluation is completed, SAMA provides new values to each of our clients. Provincial legislation requires municipalities to use these values when determining taxes.
For more information on SAMA, visit Sama’s website.
