University of Regina Journalism Students Visit Milestone

On October 17, 2022, a group of Journalism students from the University of Regina visited Milestone as part of an assignment for their Journalism 300 class. The students engaged in researching, writing stories, interviewing residents, and capturing photographs.

This field trip is an annual tradition for the JRN 300 class, focusing on immersing students in southern Saskatchewan communities. Previous assignments have included producing stories for independent U of R magazines featuring communities like Kronau, Raymore, and Cowessess First Nation. The philosophy behind this approach is simple: the best way to write about people and a community is to be present, research, observe, and ask questions.
